Courtesy: Design Within Reach<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DWR was founded in San Francisco in 1998 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/studioforbes\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Rob Forbes<\/strong><\/a>, who identified that many iconic pieces, like the popular Eames lounge chair and ottoman, were \u201cout of reach\u201d for most homeowners, due to industry exclusivity and long delivery times. \u201cRob\u2019s mission was to give people access to the best in modern design,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/omar_nobil\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Omar Nobil<\/strong><\/a>, DWR\u2019s Creative Director. \u201cWe do that by curating what we think has importance and will make a meaningful difference in people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nobil calls the Eames chair an \u201cintegral, critical part\u201d of DWR\u2019s central assortment. The womb chair by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dwr.com\/designer-eero-saarinen?lang=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Eero Saarinen<\/strong><\/a>, originally designed for Knoll, is another. Both pieces, which have been around for over 70 years, represent renowned classics by historically significant designers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DWR places emphasis on the word \u201cmodern\u201d in the term \u201cmidcentury modern.\u201d Nobil says, \u201cAs we think about design, we don\u2019t compartmentalize. Courtesy: Design Within Reach<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe work with people who have shared values with us,\u201d Nobil says. \u201cPeople who are thinking about life today and how to improve it, as opposed to someone who just wants to catch a trend, or someone who does have the ability to create beautiful things, but they don\u2019t function for life.\u201d He adds that DWR looks to collaborate with current designers who can create pieces that are \u201cculturally relevant now but have an enduring quality to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/susanclarkdesign.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Susan Clark<\/strong><\/a> is one such modern designer. She is also a gallerist in New York City and is steeped heavily in the industrial style. Her Contra Sofa can be found in-store alongside the Noguchi Table, a coffee table designed by legendary 20th century designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noguchi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Isamu Noguchi<\/strong><\/a>.
